|Does it Fulfill its Purpose?||20||MetaTrader 4 has a number of features that anyone trading Forex would find useful. You can view all the currencies that you are watching in a screen that updates with the market. There are a number of charts that are very similar to the ones you might find in the PC application. You can place trades from right within the app. You can experiment using a special mode with simulated money, or try your hand using one of the approximately 250 supported brokers. It also includes a neat feature that can be set up from the MetaTrader 4 program that will alert you if your Forex hits a certain price.|
|Does it Look Good?||20||MetaTrader has a system looks very professional, and nothing looked even slightly awkward or out of place. In addition, watching Forex prices update on the fly is a neat experience. The whole app looks great and gives lots of information in an easy-to-understand manner.|
|Does it Run Well?||17||MetaTrader 4 runs over 3MB, with no ability to install to SD. It requires permissions to access SD storage, internet access, read phone state, receive data, vibrate, start at boot, and discover known accounts.|
|Is it Easy to Use?||14||Setting up a new account wasn’t difficult, though as with the MetaTrader 5 app, I had some difficulty getting it set up because the cellphone it wasn’t very flexible with number formatting. I had to re-enter my cell phone number three times because it didn’t recognize it as the proper length without the 1. Once you get into the app, it’s not complicated to use- everything is relatively straightforward. However, the level of proficiency required is very high, and no tutorial is given in order to explain what different financial terms mean. If you are new at forex trading, MetaTrader 4 is not a good starting point- if you’re already familiar with the terminology, however, it is a useful tool. It also includes the ability to use demo accounts, so you can gain proficiency with the app without having to worry about accidentally spending your entire life savings.|
|Is This App Useful to Everybody?||8||If you are a forex trader, MetaTrader 4 will probably need a shortcut on your homepage- it’s something you’ll want to have up a great deal of the time. In addition, the alerts that can be set up are terrific to have.|
|Overall Score||79||MetaTrader 4 portable has a number of similarities with MetaTrader 5, which was reviewed a few weeks ago here on Droid Idol- however, though it doesn’t have the ability to work with stocks, there are a few additional features such as the alerts that make it worth checking out. If you’re on v4 on the PC, this is a great trading app that would be useful both as a stand-alone app and as a companion to the PC version.|
