Wirelessly send files between your computer and android easily, fast, and free! EZ Drop works over 3G, 4G, or wifi, and no login is required.
As I write this review, I’m listening to a song that I just transferred to my Android simply and quickly (it took less than a minute) using EZ Drop. I was skeptical at first, but using this app made transferring any file- whether music, pictures, or other data types- to and from the phone simple and pleasant.
| Category | Score | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Does it Fulfill its Purpose? | 20 | EZ Drop fulfills its purpose very well. Connecting is very easy and intuitive, and adding files is very simple. In addition, uploading files from the phone to the computer worked both quickly and without trouble. |
| Does it Look Good? | 12 | This app definitely doesn’t look bad. The UI is almost deceptively simple (I found myself asking, could it really be that easy? Just enter 4 numbers from the website? It was). It gives the information it needs to give, and doesn’t seem cluttered or disjointed. The look and feel isn’t spectacular, but it gets the job done quite well. The green file explorer didn’t look great on my device, though. |
| Does it Run Well? | 20 | With almost no permissions and universal compatibility, this app comes with no caveats from the technical standpoint. And at less than 1 MB, EZ Drop won’t leave you hunting for what to delete to make room (though your SD card might not fare the same!) |
| Is it Easy to Use? | 19 | As the name might suggest, EZ Drop is… well… easy! When I saw it linking me to a website, I was worried that I would have to make an account or spend time setting things up and logging in. However, I was pleasantly surprised- all you had to do was enter a 4-digit code, and you were all set! For everything even slightly complex, on-screen instructions walk you through it. |
| Is it Useful? | 18 | Everybody with an Android device will need to get their files from their device to their computer and vice versa at some point. And when you do, it’s not always convenient to find a connector cable, wait for your computer to recognize your phone, switch to USB mode, and then hunt through directories in order to find the right place to drag your file. With this app, it’s as simple as entering a 4-digit code and then dragging it over to your browser. Furthermore, the ability to pick the transfer location makes this app much more useful in some instances than the similar features of Dropbox- I can send my music files right to my music directory, so they instantly appear in my native music apps. |
| Overall Score | 89 | From the convenience of the website, to the simple connection and transfer, this app makes moving files to and from the phone really easy. To make things even more convenient, the devices do not need to be at the same location as the computer- it just needs to have the security code- so if I forget my latest audiobook on my computer at home, my wife can just read me the code and then send it over (though those with limited bandwidth should be careful of this feature). |
