One of the most annoying parts about my job is that I end up with a thousand receipts of which I have to keep track. I end up with my glove compartment being filled to the brim with receipts, and once a week, I place a giant stack of them on my boss’s desk. Let me tell you- it’s not fun for anyone. Now with ExpenseClam I can track all the information, include a picture of the receipt, email it simply and be done with it by lunchtime- no pile of paper required!
ExpenseClam is designed to make keeping track of your business expenses and submitting expense claims easy. The interface speeds up recording of expenses by using your historical expense information to auto-suggest and auto-populate fields.
|Does it Fulfill its Purpose?||19||ExpenseClam has most of the features that I could dream of in an expense tracking app. For each expense you log, you can select a currency, enter an amount, add a description, give it a date, place it in a group, enter a category, select a payment type, enter any notes, and even take a picture. In your list of expenses, you can duplicate them, filter and sort. There’s also a button to transfer them to claimed, which will send them (via email or other program) and then move them to a different category for expenses that you’ve already taken care of. It would be nice to see the emailing feature expanded- such as adding the ability to move just one expense from unclaimed to claimed- but as it is ExpenseClam includes a lot of features.|
|Does it Look Good?||20||ExpenseClam looks very good. The custom icons all fit the theme, and the layout is very concise. There’s no wasted space in the add expense screen, and the rest of the app looks great as well.|
|Does it Run Well?||20||ExpenseClam runs at around 1MB, but can be installed to the SD card to decrease its size to around half that. It includes a few permissions, including the ability to access the internet, SD card, phone state, and camera.|
|Is it Easy to Use?||19||ExpenseClam is a very simple app to use- standard icons and concise hints in the message boxes make everything very clear, and if there’s anything you don’t understand, a lengthy tutorial explains it all. The only difficulty I had was in figuring out how to transfer things from unclaimed expenses to claimed expenses. It took me a bit to figure it out- hitting the far left button at the top emails all unclaimed expenses (and any attached pictures).|
|Is This App Useful to Everybody?||16||Not every Android user would use an app like this, but if you use your phone for business and ever need to keep track of expenses, ExpenseClam is a great way to do it.|
|Overall Score||94||ExpenseClam is a great app for people who are using their Android for business. It looks great, and is simple to use while having a lot of functionality. It’s got a free version, which displays ads after 30 days of use.|
